CPL Christian A. Jones
Where do you start when you have so much to say about someone you love so much. Words don’t come easily. And when they do, you have the hardest time choosing the ones that best represent the person you loved with all of your heart. Christian was everything you could wish a young man to be. He was handsome, strong, witty, charming, caring, reliable, determined, and above all else, loved his family and his dog, Babe. Thinking of life without him in it does not seem real. It is like you keep waiting for him to come home on leave. Maybe that’s just our way of dealing with the loss.
As a child – Christian never crawled. He just pulled himself up one day, and then began to walk. At 10 months old the kid would run around. He was destined to be a soccer player, then on to an active lifestyle – inevitably the Army. Christian wanted to protect others and gained a great deal of self-reward and satisfaction from doing so.
While serving in the U.S. Army, Christian achieved the rank of Specialist, E4, 11B Scout. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Global Ware on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, and Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge Sharpshooter Rifle. He was recognized for selfless service and was awarded a unit coin when he helped a fellow comrade suffering from depression to seek help, guiding him to make the right choice to overcome that. He was highly respected by his brothers and his command, and is missed by all who served alongside him, and those who knew him personally.
May he live on through us and the work we do in his name through Christian’s Corner Foundation. An organization to assist in raising funds and supporting veteran mental health programs.
Never too far….forever in our hearts.
