CW3 Donald V. Clark
Chief Warrant Officer 3 Donald V. Clark, 37, of Newton, Alabama, graduated from Boardman Ohio High School in 1989 and served in the Navy until 1995 when he joined the Army. Don was assigned to Fort Wainwright, Alaska, in November 2006 as an instructor pilot for small scout helicopters. He deployed to Iraq in July 2008 as part of the 6th Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, Task Force 49, U.S. Army Alaska. He and another soldier died in Mosul, Iraq, when their OH-58 Kiowa helicopter crashed while on a mission over Mosul. Don was fearless and his fellow soldiers called him “Genghis Don.” He was very smart. He could have done anything, but he chose to stand together shoulder to shoulder with brave men and women to fight tyranny.
