This is my husband Sgt. Jose Joel Reyes. Jose was an excellent husband and an incredible father to both our kids Damian and Damianisl. Jose was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, on February 1st, 1988, and lived most of his life in San Lorenzo, PR, with his mother Zoraida Cruz, brother Yamil Reyes and his sister Neysha Reyes. He loved music and enjoyed playing many instruments like his guitar, saxophone and the drums. In 2005, when Jose was 18, he enlisted with the National Guard in Puerto Rico with 248th Army band playing the saxophone. Jose was truly amazing and then in 2009, he transferred over to Active Duty to the 10th Mountain Division in Ft. Drum, NY. Here he was in the 110th Transportation Company. Everything Jose did, he did it with pride and truly loved it. He was deployed to Afghanistan in April 2012 and he was unfortunately killed by an IED on July 18th, 2012. Jose was 24 years old.

We will always remember, love and miss him… he’s a true Hero.
